Dr. David Johnston is a licensed, board certified osteopathic physician with more than twenty years experience working with infants, children, and adults. He pursued his childhood dream of becoming a physician and currently has a successful private practice in Ridgefield, CT. Dr. Johnston completed 5 years of his medical training at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine on Long Island where he received an undergraduate teaching fellowship in Osteopathic Principles and Practice. After a year long medical Internship at Good Samaritan Hospital, he continued his residency training at the prestigious St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, a top-training program in the U.S. for osteopathic physicians. This unique two-year training taught him how to apply hands-on Osteopathic treatment to a diverse population of hospitalized and clinic patients ranging from newborns to seniors.
Dr. Johnston is Board Certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and holds special certification in Cranial Osteopathy. He is a founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Integrative Medicine, where he studied the principles of functional and nutritional medicine. He is an associate faculty member of the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation. He has also studied extensively with Dr James Jealous DO, a Biodynamic approach to Osteopathy. This focus was on perceptual studies of the natural world and how the healing process of the Primary Respiratory Mechanism engages the health in the patient for healing.
His exploration of many healing traditions and practices, along with his own healing journey allows him to be intuitively present and to listen to each client during their visit.
When not spending time with his wife and three children, swimming and gardening, Dr. Johnston is active in educating the community through articles and lectures on various health topics of nutrition and osteopathy.
